Activity: Identify Advertising Slogans

To gain a competitive advantage, companies try to use slogans or jingles to create top of the mind awareness.

  1. How many current advertising slogans can you identify? Take a minute and write down as many advertising slogans as you can. When you are finished, compare your list with that of a partner. Who had the longer list?

  2. Review the following list of past and present advertising slogans and identify as many as you can. A committee of members from prominent advertising agencies and marketing publishers selected the slogans as some of the best overall slogans. Click here to download the organizer.

  1. Visit the Advertising Slogan Hall of Fame, sponsored by ADSlogans Unlimited and check your answers. Go through each category starting with "Top 10 (2000)." Record the correct brand name for each incorrectly identified slogan in column three. How many slogans did you identify?

  2. Another strategy used by marketers to create top-of-the-mind awareness for their brand is creating a jingle. Small children often sing these even when they do not know what the product is. How well can you do in this category? Identify the brand name for each of the following jingles.
